About the Artist

Improvisor, creator of ambiance, composer, Yannick Rieu doesn’t work on concepts. He is inspired by a personal vision, a poetic musical approach. He has performed his music in Canada and abroad (France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, China), and has worked with musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Toots Thielemans, Paul Bley, Jon Hendricks, Bill Carrothers, Horace Parlan, John Hicks and Christian Vander. Yannick Rieu received the Oscar Peterson Award in 2006 for his quality of work and its reach across Canada.

About the concert

To celebrate his 60 years, at 7 pm in the cabaret Guy-Aubert, the saxophonist Yannick Rieu will surround himself with four of the most talented young musicians of their generation for his show MachiNations. This concert, which combines the musical influences that marked his career, includes different rhythms from R&B, funk, jazz-rock and ethnic music while leaving ample musical space for his young acolytes.
