[ FUNK - SOUL - R & B ]

Named the best kept secret in Canadian funk by the Quebec press, The Brooks is a group of accomplished musicians who are well known in the soul/funk scene across the Atlantic. The Brooks is the meeting of expert instrumentalists, led by Alexandre Lapointe, and frontman Alan Prater, a showman with incredible energy who has played with some of the biggest names in the industry.

A winning and flamboyant combo, passionate and experienced, that stirs up the sacred fire with each performance. A powerful groove machine, a driving force in its environment, which goes beyond the interpretation and the style exercise.

The aesthetics of the group condenses 50 years of evolution of Afro-American music, both in form and in content. One finds in the lives and the discs: the meticulousness and the rigor of a James Brown, the voluptuousness of a D'Angelo, the charisma of a Fela Kuti, the inter-generational opening of a Herbie Hancock and the innovation of a
J Dilla.

The Brooks' approach is inspired by these music heroes, who did not let their messages be dictated by trends and formats. Like these history makers, they have built their reputation outside of the conventional channels, through sweat and rigor. Hard-working people, united in a project, where pleasure and total artistic freedom are the only key words.

In eight years of existence, with an EP and three albums, The Brooks have already collected awards and nominations (GAMIQ, Independent Music Awards, ADISQ...) and have built a solid reputation in the Quebec indie scene.
